YIPI to Cadet to Constable

In 2006 Thushanth Selvakumar was one the first students to experience the Youth in Policing Initiative in its inaugural year. On September 10th, 2014 he became the first ever YIPI alumni to become a police officer.

PC Selvakumar was featured in a video produced by the Toronto Police Service. In the video he mentioned that his dream of becoming a police officer began when he was a kid and would watch the police cars go by.

At the Youth in Policing Initiative we are proud to see one of our alumni reach such a high achievement. We hope PC Selvakumar will pave the way and be an example to the approximate 1,400 students that have graduated from the Youth in Policing Initiative.
