Under Construction

Hello!

Thank you for visiting the Youth In Policing Word Press.

As you can see, just above this post, we now have a tab for each graduated YIPI program.

Our goal is to have the graduation video and scrap book inserted into each tab for that respective program.

Please excuse us while we do so!

2014 Santa Claus Parade

On Sunday, November 16th the 2014 Fall Youth in Policing students had the opportunity to work at the Santa Claus Parade.

It was a great event as about 60 students worked at 3 divisions of the parade.

Our students had a great time connecting with the community along the parade route.

We look forward to next year’s parade!

In 2006 Thushanth Selvakumar was one the first students to experience the Youth in Policing Initiative in its inaugural year. On September 10th, 2014 he became the first ever YIPI alumni to become a police officer.

PC Selvakumar was featured in a video produced by the Toronto Police Service. In the video he mentioned that his dream of becoming a police officer began when he was a kid and would watch the police cars go by.

At the Youth in Policing Initiative we are proud to see one of our alumni reach such a high achievement. We hope PC Selvakumar will pave the way and be an example to the approximate 1,400 students that have graduated from the Youth in Policing Initiative.

On September 10, 2014 89 Toronto Police members entered the college as cadets and left as constables.

Many of you have heard of the Youth in Policing Initiative and the amazing students that we get to interact with. We’ve decided to share a bit of who they are with you. We will be profiling various students over the course of the program and hope that you enjoy getting to know these young folks as much as we do!
